RONGOTEA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) RONCOTEA, March 18.
A well-attended meeting of the Rongotea School Old Pupils’ and Parents’ Associaiion was held on Saturday. Mr 11. N. Rowe was in the chair and before proceeding with the business lie niade reference to the bereavement sustained by Mr and Mrs W. A. Hurst, and also to the passing' of Mrs C. K. Mhitehead. (a former pupil of the school!. Tho meeting stood in silence as a mark of respect to bereaved families. The treasurer (Mr W. J. Amies) presented a del ailed statement, of the accounts of the recent garden party. The baths fund is now £362 15s lid in credit. The raising: of further funds is to bo undertaken at the earliest opportunity. has boon generous to the Manawatu district this vear, and there was evidence of it at the harvest festival services which were held at. the Rongolea Methodist Church on Sunday, when there was a bountiful display of seasonable flowers, fruits and vegetables. Large congregations were present at both services, when all joined in the familiar harvest hymns, and thanks woro expressed for the peaceful conditions enjoyed here. Miss A. Hunt presided at the organ. The morning service was taken by Mr G. IT. Culc, of Marton, and in the evening the .preacher was Rev. C. M. Roberta.
