Officers and members of the Pahiatua Fire Brigade gathered at the Fire Station on Saturday evening to tender a farewell to Fireman A. Woodfield. who is to reside at Manunni. Superintendent W. Lawry presented Fireman Woodfield with a silver-mounted tobacco barrel. Jlc was sorry to see Fireman Woodfield leaving the brigade as he had been a conscientious member, but ho wished Mr and Mrs Woodfield happiness in their new sphere. PRIMARY SCHOOL SPORTS.

At the annual sports meeting of the Bush primary schools, held at Ekotahuna, IJukanui won the championship. Konmi being runners-up, The Beryl Maboy Challenge Cup for most ponits won on sports day by each of the five smallest schools was won for the first time by Ngaturi. There were- 19 schools competing, the starters being Messrs R. Maboy, and A. P. Jensen and the chief marshal Mr IV. J. Scott. The trophies were presented during the afternoon, when speeches were delivered by Mr R. Maboy (pro-icßnt). Mr J. Robertson. M.P.. and Mr W. Simpson (Mayor of F.ketahuna).
