(From Our Own Correspondent.) RONGOTEA, March 6 A most enjoyable evening was spent on Alonduy when members of the Rongotea Afasonie Lodge took the opportunity to entertain their lady friends and also say farewell to Air and Airs R. A. Buchanan. Air A. X. Alorcoin presided, and a bright programme of musical and elocutionary items, interspersed with novel competitions, held the interest of all present. At. a suitable juncture, Air Boswell asked Air and Airs Buchanan to accept a valuable travelling rug on behalf of members. Mr Boswell said they all deeply regretted Air and Airs Buchanan’s departure .from Rongotca. and ho trusted they would be spared to enjoy long and happy years in retirement. Air Buchanan' briefly responded. Air and Alt's Buchanan will pay a visit lo Palmerston North, and ilien journey on through the South Island. Their future place of residence has not, been decided. There was a frost in Rongotea on 'Tuesday morning. It varied in severity. In seme gardens considerable damage was done: in others the effects were slight.

At the annual meeting of the Young Farmers’ C.’hih an attendance of 40 members was presidde over by Mr F. Dear. Ihe annual report covered the year’s activities and tlie balance-sheet. showed * credit of £8 4s. Air H. Lancaster congratulated the officials on their enthusiasm : lie could sav without hesitation that several members had made considerable progress in the past year, and lie expressed himself pleased with the results achieved, in regard to their ability to stand up at meetings and express well chosen ideas with force and clearness. Letters of thanks are lo be sent to Alcssrs 11. l’ox and 11. A. Covorhill. Seven now members were elected: — Messrs F. Rowe, J. Webb. 1. Hunt, T. Simos, B. Forlong, K. Hall, and A. Angus. Officers elected arc: —President, Air IJ. J. Lancaster: chairman. Air J. H. Gibbons; secretary and treasurer. Air C. Pearson ; advisory committee. Alcssrs L. H. Yarrall, J. O’Connor and H. Fox: executive commit toe. Alcssrs F. Dear. J. PClovii. J. Scott, R. O. Cloyn and AI. Adamson; delegates to district annual meeting, Messrs F. Dear, J. Gibbons, and G. Pearson. Air Lancaster was thanked for bis valuable assistance and sustained interest in the club. A dance is to be held, the proceeds to be donated to a patriotic fund.
