The eminent Moslem Alaiilana Azad whose election to the. presidency of the forthcoming National' Congress was regarded as a big victory for Air Gandhi, paid a tribute to the sincerity of the Viceroy (Lord Linlithgow), hut said: “Civil disobedience cannot lie postponed much longer unless Britain anti thg Congress reach a definite understanding. Air Gandhi is prepared to meet the Viceroy . and explore all avenues of peaceful settlement.” TERROR!SAL ON FRONTIER. NEW DELTIT. Fob. 21. A military clean-up is being launched in the area north of Rannu, where gang warfare has recently terrorised settlements bordering the North-West Frontier. The Fakir of Ipi has boon responsible i'or nearly a filth of the outrages in the last three months, involving the deaths of Anglo-Indian officers and other ranks. The raiders have burnt schools and killed civilians.
