Architecture’s highest award—the Royal Gold Medal—is to be presented to'Mr C. F. A. Voysev, F.R.1.8.A., states a British Official Wireless message.
At the annual meeting of the Stock Exchange Association of New Zealand yesterday. Mr Andrew Hamilton, chairman of the Wellington Stock Exchange, was elected president, and Mr J. W. Frater, chairman of the Auckland Stock Exchange, vice-president. Messrs W. H. Brown (president of tne Manawatu Automobile Association). T. M. N. Rodgers (vice-presi-dent) M. A. Eliott, E. R. B. Holben (members of committee) and S. I. McKenzie (secretary) will attend the half-yearly meeting of the North Island Motor Union in Wellington next Thursday. It was announced at the meeting of the General Synod yesterday that the Bishop of Waiapu (lit. Rev. G. V. Gerard) had accepted an appointment as senior chaplain of the New Zealand Forces. He will go overseas with the Third Echelon. Archdeacon Hawkins was appointed senior chaplain in the province during Bishop Gerard's absence. The Wanganui Education Board, yesterday, placed on record appreciation of the service of Air E. Crosby, acting senior inspector, who was attending his last meeting of the hoard in that capacity. Air B. N. T. Blake, of Auckland, is the new senior inspector. Air Crosby said his relationships with the board members and the staff bad been most happy. Dr. E. N. Morrington, master of Knox Presbyterian College, Dunedin, tendered his resignation, to take effect from the end of the year, in a letter received by the Centennial General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Wellington yesterday. The letter was received and a sub committee was set up to consider the resignation and to report back to a later session of the assembly.
A life-member of the New Zealand Brass Bands Association, whose Centennial championships are at present being held in Wellington, Air J. R. Williamson died in Auckland yesterday. This is the second life-member who has died within a few weeks, the other being Captain Thomas Herd. At last night’s festival in the Wellington Town Hall, bandsmen and audience stood for a lew moments as a mark of respect. The work which Very Rev. G. H. AlcNeur had done as a missionary in China was praised by the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (Rt. Rev. J. Lawson Robinson), yesterday. It was realised that Air AlcNeur had given a lifetime of service to the Church in Canton ; not only had lie commended himself to the people of China, but he had also commended the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand.
