WORK AT AWAPUNI.

PREPARATIONS FOR WOODVILLE. The course proper was closed for work at Awapimi yesterday, when horses with engagements at Woodville on Saturday and Monday were well represented. r J lie trial grass was in good order, with the going easy. Among the horses which galloped well were Raeburn and Flammarion, Brazil and Verey Lights, Oragon, Lambourn, Sporting Gift and Gaelic Song. Raeburn (Ireland) and Flammarion (Morris), went over‘seven furlongs, running the first-half mile sin 50soe. They finished in 1.30. Brazil (Buchanan) and Verey Lights (11. Stewart) did a mile with the pace on all the way. Brazil was a length in front at the post after running the last seven furlongs in lmin. 32sce. Oragon (Buchanan) and Chary (Stewart) sprinted four furlongs in 52scc. They were not ridden out. SAPLING STAKES ENTRANTS. Two entrants for the Sapling Stake* are Lnmbourn (Morris) and Cherry Bay (Ireland). Lambourn was in front and going easily at the end of half a mile run in 53 2-ssec. Sporting Gift (C. B. Goulsbro), Gaelic Song (Temperton) and Tlirasos (Taltersaib went over seven furlongs anil wore joined by Boniden at the three furlongs peg. Sporting Gift and Gaelic Song drew away in the iast furlong, the former winning by a length in lmin. 32 2-5. Race Boy. with a lighter weight, boat Rollawny (Anderson) over six furlongs in 1.21 2-5. Battle Pomp (Anderson) and a companion went well over a mile, doing good time for the last six furlongs. High Peer, who is still improving, completed a mile in lmin. 51see. Colonel Bogey (Morris) was restrained in a working gallop over six furlongs. Last Aero and Myarion were goirij along comfortably at (be end of half a mile in 54see. Taitnma (Morris) and Koliia. (Jarvis) sprinted three furlongs in 3950 e., and Goldbum (Morris) ran two in 28-ec. Four furlongs in the plough were done by Laughing Lass (Pratt) in less than 54 see. Also being exercised were Ecstatic, Clario-i Call, Bryce Street, Royal Sign, Old Surrey, who will jump this winter, Ta.il Light and Tolaga. Sceptre (Ireland) (lid one of the best sprints of the morning, completing six furlongs in 1.19 3-ssec. Millament, ridden by a light bov, rail four furlongs on the plough in 55 '3-ssec. and Cetcwayo was in front of Courting at the end of three furlongs in 39.-CC. Debretts (Anderson) sprinted five furlongs in 1.5. BEAUPARTHI AT WORK.

Special interest cent red in the gallop of Beaupartir (B. 11. Morris) over half a mile on the plough, lie bit out smoothly and as if bo relished the task.
