VALEDICTORY.
In the stationmaster’s office at Woodville, on -Monday, the staff gathered to hid farewell to Mr j. Redmond. who is shortly to transfer to Napier. The stationmaster (Air D. S. Broughton) made a presentation in the form of a box kerb and fender and expressed regret at Air Redmond’s impending departure. Air Redmond's genial personality and friendly demeanour, he said, had endeared liim to all with whom he came in contact and his place in the community would he hard to fill. He wished both Air and Airs Redmond the best of luck in their new sphere of life. Other speakers were Mr J. Scott (on behalf of the clerical department), Air J. Dunstall (traffic department), Alessrs W. Holland and W. H. Wilks (locomotive department). In replying, Air Redmond said ho was leaving Woodville with regret and felt keenly having to leave so many good friends. Mr Redmond is employed as a signal adjuster at Wood • ville and is taking up a similar position at Napier. His place at Woodville wilj he taken by Air W. Clapscott. o 1 Wellington.
