GENERAL NEWS.

Afr C. Gardiner, of Kimbolton Road, Feilding, has in his possession a twenty million German mark note issued on July 20,, 1923. Although valueless today, the note at one time would have represented a fortune if exchangable for gold marks. The recently constructed highway approaches to the Kiwitea Stream bridge on Kimbolton Road are particularly rough at present. Potholes .are numerous and for light model cars the surface is far from being satisfactory. The profit from the concert conducted recently by the Feilding Agricultural High School amounted to approximately £2B, which is to be devoted to the Kowhai Park memorial pavilion fund. The Feilding Swimming Club advises that Air L. AY 7 . Penhey has generously donated a cup to the club, to be known as the Frank Penhey Alemorial Cup. It is to be competed for by boys under 12 years who have learnt to swim during the current season over a distance of 33 1-3 yards. Tho cup is a handsome one and merits wide competition. The Municipal Band is holding a garden party (weather permitting) at Mr Lindsay’s residence, Beattie Street, on Saturday, the 16th instant, in aid of funds to send the band to the Dominion contest in February. Tho afternoon lias been set aside for tennis and miniature golf, whilst dancing on the lawn lias been arranged for the evening. Stalls, as well as sovcral games, will also be available. ’ Admission for both afternoon and evening will be free.
