GAMING ACT.
CHARGES AT FOXTON. Charges arising out of a raid made in Foxton last Saturday by Palmerston North detectives mere heard by Mr Goulding, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court at Foxton yesterday. G. F. Walls was charged with using premises as a common gaming house. Mr M. B. Bergin appeared for defendant and entered a plea of guilty. Tire Magistrate said that as it- was Walls’s first offence and his transactions had not been large, he would be convicted and fined £lo,' with costs 10s.
E. K. do Ridder, charged with being found in a common gaming bouse a.nd with bookmaking, also pleaded guilty. Ho was fined £3O, in default two months’ imprisonment on the bookmaking charge, and £2 on the first charge, with costs 10s. A month was allowed in which to pay the fines.
C. Walker was charged with being found in a common gaming house. He pleaded guilty and was fined £l, with costs 10s.
