WEST END SCHOOL.

The monthly meeting of the West End School Committee was held last evening. Mr G. Tremaine presiding. The other members present were Messrs J. H. Daiziel, W. Collins, A. E. Tenfold, F. J. Melhuish, and H. M. Rough (secretary).' Permission was granted Mr McEwen to _ use the school grounds for the coaching of an inter-liouse sports team. The school will he closed to-morrow afternoon for the Manawatu A. and P. Association’s Spring Show. On account of the teachers’ ears being damaged when parked on the roadway, Mr Melhuish was instructed to inspect the grounds with a view to setting aside a parking area for such cars and to report to the next meeting. After the reading of a letter from the Wanganui Education Board inquiring if the committee intended to purchase film strips, it was decided (to notify the hoard that the committee was prepared to purchase some of these. The headmaster (Mr H. W. Jackson) in his report stated that the roll number was now 4CO and the average for the past four weeks was 414.9. The health of the children was good. Mr M. Currin commenced his duties as caretaker on October 31. For the annual collection of eggs for the Willard Home last month 265 eggs were received.
