OROUA CLUB’S FINANCES, •SATISFACTORY POSITION'. Features of the oroua Bowling Club’s activities reviewed at tbo annual meeting, held on Saturday evening, were tile strong financial position and tlio increased membership. The club, which has been in existence for IS years, finished last season with a credit balance of £B9 18s Id in addition to a gain of £26 made possible by the generosity of two debenture-holders, I Messrs C. B. Aitkcn and AV. A\ r . An- | drews, who had made a donation of their holdings. Th’fe meeting was presided over by the president (Air C. Hausmann) and there was a good attendance despite I the inclement weather. Commenting on the annual report (already published) and the balance-sheet, Air Haus--1 menu said the club bad good reason to bo proud of the balance-sheet, and he directed attention to the revenue received from sources other than subscriptions, stating that without the money secured from competitions and card functions the club would not be able to balance its budget. Subscriptions had brought in £142 3s, and it was pleasing to note that no amounts were outstanding. To pay its way the club needed a membership of 80, and the president urged members to endeavour to get new players. Referring to the greens, Air Hausmann was happy to state that they had been maintained in good order despite the drought in the autumn. Air Pitman, the greenkeeper, would be with the club again the coming season. When one recalled that the previous year had ended with a credit balance of only 18s Id, the latest balance-sheet was a noteworthy one and illustrated the progress the club was making. The difficulties experienced by rural clubs in getting their competitions finalised were touched on by the nresident, who said he would not like to see the competitions discontinued, but emphasised the responsibilities of those entering, stating that they should be prepared to sec the competitions through. On the motion of Air ’Telford the report and balance-sheet were adopted. OFFICERS ELECTED. The following officers were elected: President, Air C. Hausmann ; vice-pre-sident, Air W. Alaguire; hon. secretary and treasurer, Air T. Pagan. Air Aitkcn eulogised the work of the president, stating that in everv possible manner Air Hausmann had helped to raise the club to the position it was in, and he had not spared himself. His election lor the sixth term showed con- . illusively the confidence members had in ' him. On the motion of the chairman sup- j ported by Alessrs Andrews and Aitkcn appreciation of the services of the re- . tiring vice-president (Air G. Buckman) was placed on record. It was decided that a letter of thanks ’ be sent to Air Alaguire for his services I as auditor. Three now members were enrolled, l and members intimated that further nomination papers would bo signed in j the near future. ; Gifts of badges for the president, vice-president and the secretary were made by Abr If. Smithers., who intimated that perhaps later he would be able 1o donate similar badges to members of the committee. He was thanked lor his generosity.
