PP OD UCTIONS PL A NNED. A meeting of the executive of the Manawatu Repertory Society was held on Friday, Mr M. H. Oram presided. Mr L. I. Plimmer submitted a very satisfactory report from the finance committee. Mr W. M. Webster announced that the kitchen and supper room at the Empire Hall would be completely redecorated by the weekend. Accounts totalling £SB were passed for payment. The secretary (51 rJ. A. Edwards) reported that several missing copies of “They Came by Night” had been found. A discussion was held on ‘‘Bamboo,” the society’s entry in the forthcoming drama festival. “Bamboo” is to be produced by Miss N. Woodhouse. Tlie Wanganui Repertory Society wrote asking members of the executive to attend their forthcoming production and to discuss the question of royalties. The letter was received and a party of members is to go to Wanganui. A letter was read from Miss N. sVoodhou.se, convener of the play-redd-ing circle of the Mann-watu Club, seeking the approval of the executive to allow the east of the recently produced one-act plav “World Without sron” to present the plav at the sfanawatu County Club. The members of the east had been approached and they were agreeable. The request was granted. The following reports were considered : Report on the recent production “The Distaff Side”: social committee report on the forthcoming dance; membership committee report, which stated, inter alia, that eight new members had joined since the last meeting; a report from sfr V. Hean regarding the finance committee and covering his notice of motion. The motion, which provided for the reorganisation of the finance committee, lapsed for want of a seconder. A report was read from the programme and casting committee, and “Glorious slorning” was approved for the next reading, Mr Oram to bo producer. On the motion of tho_ chairman, it was decided to do “Pride and Prejudice” as the next production provided suitable staging and casting arrangements can be made. Miss Babottc Rodgers was appointed producer and Dr. A. de Berry assistant producer. In connection with this production. sliss M. Mortland was appointed wardrobe mistress. The schedule for the rest of the season was discussed and it was deckled to read the following plays;—-“Mr Pirn Passes By,” in September, producer, sfiss R. Lees; “Without Alibi,” in October. Air T. sf. N. Rodgers as producer. The next evening of one-art plays is being organised hv slr Webster, and he will have the following assistants; sTiss E. Hall. Mrs C. Espiner and slr IT. B. Low.
