The Davis Cup candidates are threatening to strike over the 1989 championship tennis hall, and every ranking player competing at Seabright. with the exception of F. A. Barker, to-day signed a petition to the United States Lawn Tennis Association asking that the hall lie changed for one with a lighter nap.

Otherwise, they declared, they would refuse to compote in the Eastern championships at Bye. AUSTRALIANS LOSE DOUBLES. NEW YORK, July 27. It is expected that the Cuba v. In the doubles. G. Mullov and J. H. Doeg lieat the Australians, J. H. Crawford and A. K. Quist, 3 —6, 9 —7, G—4.

Amonetfc and Alias Shirlev Catton (California), 6—3, G—2.
