SCOUT NOTES
TROOP JOTTINGS. (By ‘‘Jiciva.”) Second (Terraco End) Troop.—Congratulations to St. Patrick's. We are glad they won the handball because they deserved to do so. Also we congratulate West Knd on being runnersup. At our last meeting we thanked our own team tor the great fight they put up, and “Tawa” promised that we will challenge the winners later, when we are recovered from those five rounds with West Knd. Alter Scouts on Friday some lads stayed behind to have some fun with “Tawa” and “Grey Owl.”' Next week we will invest Bob Houston in the Great Brotherhood.
A I! Saints’ Troop.—At the meeting of the troop held on Friday. July 21. we began with inspection and prayers. The inspection was won by the Morepork Patrol. Patrol-leader B. Adcock took charge of the games. We had a skipping competition and a knotting game followed. Second-class work in the patrol corners also was held, and games of handball followed. The meeting closed with games of dodgcball. Scout A. Bowden was presented with his second-class badge. sth (To Awe Awe) Troop.—At the meeting on Wednesday evening there was a good muster. After half an hour’s work in the patrol corners the whole of the troop took part in several knotting relays. Following this a number of games of handball and dodgeball were played. General announcements were made before dismissal. A special Court of Honour is to be hold as there are a number of matters to decide. Three bovs, R. Jackson. T. Skinner and J. Taylor gained their athlete's badge St. Peter’s Troop.—St. Peter’s held their weekly meeting on Friday, July 21. Most of the Scouts turned out to welcome S.M. I.ooser back from a holiday in Australia, lie is looking much better. The night opened up with “London’s Burning.” which warmed us 'll]), with 20 minutes of work following. while during the period B. Brown passed his signalling test for the second-class badge. An exciting game of handball followed. The North Island lost to the South Island. 3—l. Big ring ended flic night. “Rata.” the acting Scoutmaster of St. Peter’s while
his brother was absent, said he would have to go back to All Saints’ and wished the troop good luck. The troop replied with the Scout cheer. The points for the evening were: Tui 2.7. II ilia 25!, Kingfisher (>. There was a short Court of Honour afterwards. .WORK St OPTS FOR AUSTRALIA. Another batch of Boy Scouts left Kngland for Australia recently. There were eight among a party of emigrants. They are all going out under the Church of England Emigration Scheme. Five arc bound for Queensland and
j three for New South Wales. Kacli Scout carries with him a letter I of introduction to brother Scouts in Australia and fit the ports of call. On the afternoon before they left they were entertained to tea at Australia j House and met by Captain C. J. Sut- | ton. of the .Migration Department of the Imperial Headquarters of the Boy Scouts Association, alio wished them Godspeed and good luck in their new adventure. The emigration of Boy Scouts is again showing a steady increase.
