ENTRIES FOR CLASSICS. Tlie trustees of tho laics Sir Charles Clifford have the biggest representation of yearlings in classic events to be decided at Riccarton, entries for which closed recently. They have three for early races. Wild Fox, a Foxbridge filly, is a halfsister to Wild Chase. She is not very big, but is bred to be a slayer, her sire coming from the famous Son-in-Law' line. Retrogression, a Magnus colt, is a brother to Great, Memory and a half-brother to Recollection, while Mauretania, by Winning Hit from Fast Passage, is a sister to Good Passage, a useful filly, that may stay well next season if ho trains on.

For autumn engagements or for three-year-old events next season there aro several others. Nightgluss, by Nightrnarch, is a sister lo Keen Sight, a useful galloper, that went to Australia. Great Heart, by Magnus, is tho first foal of Stout Heart, a hand reared sister to Cricket Bat and Ball Dress. Haughty Lad, by Winning Hit, is a brother to Haughty Winner, while East Rival, by the same sire, is a sister to Rival I Hr, sold lo Australia at a big price and a half-sister to Winning Rival, a smart two-year-old last spring and a good jirospect for next season.
