CORRESPONDENCE
i (To the Editor.) 1 Sir, — “Householder's” insulting epistle with its transparent sublcrluge is just what one would expect lrum a person wiio is not man enough to come out into the open when lie desires to assail one's qualifications, 'this super-mundane individual, under the subterfuge ol' ability, age, and progress] vcncss, practically accuses me of being an ignoramus. Apply the acid test to his puny refutation of my assertion that J. was politically victimised, and what do you get-' Verdigris! On his own admission lie builds up my ease magnificently. Ways “Householder” : “I, and we, did this, and did that, and, ’ says lie, “we were successful.” That is exactly what 1 suspected all along, and I am glad of the admission. \\ as it not the Citizens’. or Tory, Committee, who used the business-man argument at the last city elections, and with no age limit? Nevertheless, on that basis, let me tell “Householder'’ that f have been associated with more successful business than any of his committee. I was one of tho founders of a co-operative business in Palmerston North that has been an unqualified success since its inception 23 years ago. J also worked the road on commission, paying my own expenses, for nearly eighteen years. Now, “Household come up to scratch. You are .ot dealing with such a mug as you imagine. You tell me. in one breath that 3011 had nothing against me, and in the previous one that .you and others had previously aranged to have me rejected; oil what grounds, if not political, may I ask? Your sarcastic utterance, wherein you stated that you knew it would lie very nice for Mr Cutler to still he able to meet the Minister of Education, is sufficient to disclose your political nature, the inference being a Labour supporter meeting a Labour Minister. The present up-to-date College Street School and its environment cannot be credited to tho present committee. If I wanted to discredit you, “Householder,” I would not hide behind a hush to do it. If you still persist in your nauseous doctrine that everything m heaven and earth must he run by successful business men, then for heaven’s sake follow it to its logical conclusion, and have a military decree issued that in future, when j war breaks out, none hut successful business men shall be allowed in the front lines.—l am, etc.. W. F. CUTLER. 47 Ada Street. 17-7-39. This correspondence is closed.
