MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
MISCELLANEOUS CASES. The fortnightly sitting of the Magistrate's Court in Feilding was hold yesterday, Mr R. M. Watson, S.M., presiding. On a charge of double parking in Fergusson Street, Feilding, J. H. Baker, of Wellington Street, was fined €l. with costs 10s. . Abe To Oka, labourer, of Awahuri, was fined £l, with 12s costs, for failing to keep to the left of the centre line at Alt. Stewart.
K. 11. Gough, labourer, of Bunnythorpe. was fined £1 ss, with costs 12s. for failing to keep to the left of the white line at Sanson on Afav 25. He was further charged with exceeding a speed of 30 miles an hour in a restricted speed area, and was fined £1 10s, with costs 12s; while for having a defective hand-brake defendant was fined £l, with costs 12s. Time in which to pay the fines was allowed.
Jack Palenski was fined £1 10s, with costs 12s, for failing to keep to the left of the white line on Aft. Stewart. P. Lane, labourer, of Awapuni, was fined £1 10s, with costs 12s, for failing to keep to the left of the white line on Aft. Stewart. On a similar charge, H, J. Ratten, labourer, of Feilding, was fined £l, with costs 10s.
On a charge of having a defective hand-brake on his lorry, W. R. Cherrie, timber merchant, of Palmerston North, was fined £1 10s* with costs 11s. On i charge of operating his lorry with
an overhanging load, he was fined £2, with costs IQs. E. E. Finch, of Queen Street, Thames, was fined £1 10s, with costs 10s, for failing to give way to traffic at the intersection of the WanganuiLevin State highway on Alay 27, 1939. Failure to keep to the left of the white line near Sanson cost H. B. Gauntlett, of Henii Street, Devonport, a fine of £1 ss, with costs 10s. Failure to keep to the left of the white line marked at Sanson cost 0. \V. G. Alildon, farmer, of Kairangu, £1 10s, with costs 12s; Joyce Harris, of Sanson, £l, with costs 10s; Arthur D. Heggio, farmer, of Bunnythorpe, £l, costs 12s; Gilbert Tutaki, labourer, of Porangahau, £l. costs 10s, and translation fee ss; Joff C. Williamson, farm contractor, Alarton, £1 ss, costs 12s. Albert Lewis, labourer, of Palmerston North, pleaded guilty to a charge of operating a lorry without a heavy traffic license, and was fined £4, with costs 10s. S. R. Watkins, farmer, of Parewanui, was fined £1 10s, with costs 12s, for operating a vehicle with the rear number plate obscured. N. W. A. Collins, farmer, of Newbury Line, pleaded not guilty to a charge of driving along Alilsoii’s Lino . on Alay 19 at a dangerous speed. Mr I). Al. Ford, traffic inspector, prosecuted on behalf of the Transport Depart- j merit, while Air D. C. Cullinane appeared for defendant. After hearing the evidence submitted by Inspector Ford and the representations made by Mr Cullinane, the Alagistrato dismissed the charge.
On a charge of obtaining credit by fraud, at Feilding, on Alay 22, 1939, Sydney Harris, bushman, of Paliui* Otaki, was convicted and fined £1 ’ with costs and expenses amounting to £2 ss, in default 21 days’ imprisonment. Sergeant Turner said that restitution of the amount involved had been made.
