METEOR THEATRE. “THE LAMBETH WALK.” “The Lambeth Walk,” that fascinating, tantalising tunc that has swept the world and lias got everybody doing “as they darn well plcasey,” now takes on a new lease of life and lias fresh worlds to conquer in the film version of the Victoria success, “Ale and my Gal,” with Lupino Lane, star of the original stage hit, in his famous role as the little Cockney who inherits a title and sets blue blooded aristocracy agog with his lack of poieo and his wealth of “Oi’s.” Albert de Courvillc directed “The Lambeth Walk,” with Anthony Havcloek-Allan of “This Man _ is News” fame, as producer. Supporting “Nipper” Lane in his whimsical comicalities are Sally Gray, who scores an immense personal hit as the Cockney sweetheart of the Cockney hero, and that dean of the English stage, Sir Seymour Hicks, who plays an unconventional and lovable old nobleman. Other members of the east include Norali Howard, Enid Stamp-Tay-lor, Wallace Lupino and many more. The film is now showing at the Aletcor Theatre by Metro-Golrlwyn-Alaycr Pictures, Ltd. The all-conquering dance, of course, is one of the highlights of the production, and that, allied to the splendid performances by every member of the cast, and the haunting music by Noel Gay, make “The Lambeth Walk” a treat in store lor everyone and a pre-ordained success at every box office in the world. From the opening shot, sot in the famous London suburb, to the hilarious reunion of the two Cockney lovers, “The Lambeth Walk” .ripples on its way with one chuckle following closely on tlie heels of another.
KOSY THEATRE. “AIY AMERICAN WIFE.” The vole of a foreign Count who wants to swap a title as long as his arm for the nickname “Spike,” mid who discards lu-lu-aid* and spangles in favour of chaps and a ten-gallon hat, is given Francis Lederer in the Paramount picture, “My American Wife,” now showing at the Kosy Theatre. “My American Wife" costars the charming star of "One Rainy Afternoon” with Ann Sothern, and carries a list of supporting players drawn from the top names of seasoned troupers, Fred Stone appears ns an Arizona pioneer, grandfather of tlie girl Loderor marries, who resents the title and gentlemanly bearing of his new graiidson-in-law, hut finally is forced to admire him. Billie Burke is cast as iho social-minded mothei of Ledorcr’s American wife; Ernest Cos siirt, peerless "gentleman’s gentleman'' of films, is the Count’s valet, and Grant Mitchell appears as one of the banker sons of the pioneer. Directed by Robert Young, “My American Wife” is kept moving at a light, rapid puce, suited to the romantic nature of its plot and principals. "HOTEL HAYWIRE.” This Paramount picture is now showing at. too Kosy Theatre, with l.eo Carrillo. Lynne Overman and Benny Baker in the leading comedy roius. supported by Alary Carlisle, Porter flail, Georgo Barbier, Spring Byington and John Patterson. The story is of a lawyer, intent on separating a happily married couple, who finds himself in tlie lobby of "Hotel Haywire” with -« wife who does not. want to find her husband wiih tlie correspondent.
