HUGE PARADE PLANNED

On the eve of the Tientsin negotiations the city is plastered with posters reading: “Punch the British Nose!” “Let’s All Knock the British !”
A huge anti-British parade is planned for to-day. It is estimated that 15,000,000 persons attended yesterday’s demonstrations throughout Japan.
A huge crowd gathered at the British Embassy in Tokio at 2 p.m. local time to-day, shouting anti-British slogans. Extra police were rushed to the Embassy, hut they failed to disperse the mob, which was worked up to a frenzy and began to hurl stones at the windows, and tried to crash tlie gates on motor-cycles. TWO BOMBS THROWN.
In the meantime, two bombs were thrown at the British Consulate in Tsingtao in tho course of a big antiBritish demonstration, and several windows were broken, hut there were no casualties. The Japanese ConsulGeneral later called, apologised, and promised that a , full investigation would be made.
Earlier, tho Japanese Consul-General told the British Consul-General that tho Japanese would not protect British lives and property in future if the British protested and claimed damages for tho demonstration on July 12. The British Consul lias appealed for guidance from London. BRITISH ATTITUDE.
Shanghai reports that the Domci News Agency says everything at Tientsin depends on the British attitude at the Tokio negotiations. The blockade is merely the first stage. There will ho two further stages of tightening up progressively. A Tokio message says that Sir Robbert Craigie (British Ambassador in Tokio) and Mr Arita (Japanese Foreign Minister) are meeting for preliminary discussions to-day and to-mor-row.
