GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL.

PARENTS’ ASSOCIATION. The activities of the Parents’ Association of the Palmerston North Girls’ High School were fititngly opened for the year by a well attended meeting in the Assembly Hall a.t the school.' Mr T. P. Hart, presided and ways and means for augmenting the funds of the association were fully discussed. Letters from the Board of Governors were received thanking the association for a donation of curtains for the stage of the hall, also lor commodious cupboards for the dress-ing-rooms. It was decided to appoint a special committee to consider the holding of a bridge afternoon and social evening to be held in the Assembly hall during August. Congratulations on the success of the basketball {earns in the recent tournament were conveyed Irom the association. Part singing bv the school choir under the baton of 'Miss Mona Dean, and the staging of the comedy “Postal Orders.” produced by Miss Birnie, gave much pleasure. Supper was served during a social hour, after which a hearty rote of thanks was accorded Miss Stephens and her staff together with the girls for a most pleasurable evening. At a later meeting of the committee it was decided to hold a card afternoon early in August and a social evening with dancinn after the August holidays, both functions to he held at the school assembly hall which has been made available by the courtesy of Miss Stephens.
