Owing to the stormy conditions, a social function arranged by the women’s institute did not eventuate. AA hi Ist engaged in braking a shunted wagon, which unknown to him was approaching a rake of trucks, Air R. Harris, an employee at the local rnilwny yards, sustained injuries to his knee. The incident occurred during evening operations. At a shout of warning. Air Harris jumped clear just before the impact. Another drive of cull cows is to be made this week, in Southern Hawke’s Bay. From Norsewood to AYoodville they will he rounded up, and then destined for the freezing works. As the outcome of a discussion which ensued at a meeting some weeks age of the local Farmers’ Union, the drive is being made in conjunction with the Southern Hawke’s Bay Herd Testing Association. Dairy companies are lending their co-operation, and therefore the latest drive has been systematically organised.
