.MANGA IA I NOK.A J LIU LKK. KuVy 500 people attended ’die school jul.iiIcc ceremony at Mangatainoka mi Thursday afternoon. The visitors included Mrs Taylor, Wanganui, a. daughter of Mr W. If. Wilson, the first headmaster, and who for many years acted as her father’s assistant at tlie school; Sir Alfred and Lady Hansom; Mr G. W. Chntwin, headmaster of the shcool for 14 years: Mr ('ceil Brown, son of the Into Mr W. Brown, who was chairman of the school committee for very many years: the Mayor of I'nhintua (Mr Siddolls) ; Mr Bryant, rep resenting the T’ahiatun County (Amncil : and Colonel McDonald and Mr .\ichol, representing the Wellington Education Hoard.

Before the roll was called (lie gathering stood in silence in memory of deceased ox-pupils. Mrs Taylor then called the roll of pupils who attended the school on the opening day, the roll of pupils who attended in later years being called by Mr Chatwin.

Visitors and residents were welcomed to the school bv Mr Brown, who expressed the committee’s pleasure at the very large attendance of old teachers and old pupils Others who spoke were Sir Alfred Hansom. Mr l 4 ]. Iloltham. chairman of the present committee, Messrs Siddclls. Hryant. Chatwin and McDonald. Bouquets were presented by three small girls to Lady Hansom, Mrs Brown and Mrs Chatwin. Afternoon tea served in the school concluded the proceedings.
