SHOTGUN FATALITY.

MAN DEAD AT FENCE. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, May 22. Air Albert Edward Thornton, aged 37 a single man, residing in Ilarewood Road, was found dead beside a fence on his farm this afternoon. A shotgun, with one barrel discharged, was beside him. Air Thornton loft his home 9 a.m. to feed some horses and also to shoot rabbits at his farm, which is about 14 miles from his home, lie said lie would be back at about 10.30 a.m. for morning tea, but as ho had not returned by 1 p.m. his father, becoming anxious, telehoncd another son, Air Percy Thorton, and the latter went to bis brother’s farm and, after noting that the horses had not been fed, followed footsteps across a ploughed paddock until ho came to the fenco where he found bis brother dead.
