GOLF. : A medal round for tho Byrne Cup was played on the golf links on Saturday. A. Gartliew and N. Judd with a. net 72 lied ; in tile A division and E. Sinclair with a net •74 won the B division. Only eight ' cards were handed in. With a view to encouraging interest in ladder matches, ail members have now been placed on the . ladder in order of handicaps. PARISHIONERS’ WELCOME. ' Tho St. James's Church congregations 1 of Konini and Maugamaire asosmbled at 1 the Konini Hall on Saturday evening to welcome Rev. Air Button and Mrs Button oil their return to the parish. There was a largo gathering and vocal and instrumental items were rendered by Aliss Lawson, Airs Aloriarty, Aiiss Ralph and . Master Welsh. Dance music was supplied by Airs lienry, Aiiss Lawson and Airs Lawson. Air R. Smith was the ALL. Mr Lawson called upon Air and All’s Button to accept a crystal salad bowl as a token of welcome and goodwill from the church members of Konini and Alangamaire and hoped their association and work thorp would be happy and smooth, and that they would remain there for a long period. Rev. Air Ives, of Ekctaliuna, enthused Air Lawson’s remarks. PRE-WEDDING PARTY. A kitchen evening was held at the home of Mr and Airs W. T. Boyd, Wakeman Street, recently, in honour of Aiiss B. Boyd. The time was spent with dancing and musical items, and Aiiss Boyd was the recipient of many useful gifts. PERSONAL. Aiiss D. Collister is staying with Airs J. W Greaves, of Alain Street. Air and Airs W. L. Tattle are cm holiday at the Franz Josef Glacier. Rev. W. E. Aloore is attending the meeting of the Methodist Synod at Dannevtrke. Airs Diamond, senr., of Cambridge Street, and Air. and Airs J. Diamond, of Coonoor, have returned from a holiday spent in laumaru--11 \ir and Airs M. S. Alpers arc Pahiatua visitors to Wellington. AIAN GATAINOICA. In the" Library Hall, Alangatainoka. on Saturday night the Alangatainoka Cricket Club’s annual smoko concert, at which torphios won during the year were presented, was held. Uiider the direction of tho secretary, Air B. Bradbury, assisted by club members, arrangements were very efficiently ! conducted. The chairman (Mr N. Power), '•.proposed the toast of the patron. Air J. Y. Crawford, and paid a glowing tribute to his keen interest in tho club. Several . other toasts were honoured and the patron presented the following trophies to members: —Batting average, lv. Dunga.n ; bowling average, A. Small; catching total, R. Rico (26); best all-round player, K. Dungun; best junior all-round player, A. Hunt. Items were contributed by the following:—Alessrs R.
