BUTTER AND CHEESE. LONDON PRICES. A .DULL MARKET. A further fall of 3s a cwt lost week, making a total decline of 9s during tho fortnight, brought tho prico of Now Zealand salted butter in London down to 105 s, the lowest level of tile season. At this time last year tho price was 129 s to 130 s a cwt. The latest quotation is nearly 20s a cwt below the London equivalent, of tho guaranteed price. According to tho cabled report supplied by the Primary Products Marketing Department to'tho Dairy Board, there was an improved demand at tho lower level. I'riday’s closing quotations, with those of the previous week in parentheses, were as follows: Now Zealand. —Salted, 105 s (103 s; a year ago, 129 sto 130 s); unsalted, 108 sto 109 s (Ills to 112 s; a year ago, 131 s to 1325). Australian.—Salted, 103 s to 104 s (106 s to 107 s); unsalted, 105 sto 107 s (109 sto 110 b). Danish. —102 s f.0.b.; 123 ato 124 s spot (105 s; 126 sto 1275). Market quiet. Dutch. —Unsalted, 98s to 100 s, ex; 101 s (08s to 100 s). Lithuanian. —Unoallod, 102 s, ex 104 s (102 s to 108 s). Polish. —Salted. 98s to 101 s (101 s to 104 s); unsalled, 98s to 101 s (101 sto 103 s). South Africa.—9ss to 99e (97s to 101 s). Tho retail price of New Zealand butter in London lias boon reduced to Is Id a lb. Danish is unchanged at Is 3d a lb. The present prico of 105 s is equal to approximately 12.45 d a lb,. f.0.b., New Zealand ports, compared with the guaranteed price of 14.89 d a lb, f.o.b. Tho London equivalent of tho guaranteed prico is 124 s3d a cwt. The equivalent price of elieese is about 5.4 d a lb, f.0.b.. compared with tho guaranteed price of 8.42 d. Deliveries of New Zealand butter from store last week totalled 1637 tons. Tho quantity in store was 6335 tons, compared with 5426 tons a year ago. Deliveries of Australian butter wevo 1243 tons, the quantity in store being only 1424 tons, compared with 5182 tons a year ago. SHARP FALL IN CHEESE. A further decline of from 4s to 5s a cwt. last week brought the price of New Zealand cheese down to 49s to 50s, which represents a fall of from 10s to 11s in a fortnight. Tho latest quotation is front 21s 6d to 22s below tho prico ruling a year ago, 'The market was Slow last week, but there was more doing at tho lower prico at tho close. Friday’s closing quotations, with those of the previous week in parentheses, were as follows: Now Zealand.—While and coloured, 49s to 50s [s4s; a year ago, 71s to 71s 6d). Australian. —White and coloured, 46s to 48s, up to 49s (50s to 525). Canadian. —White, 70s to 72s (71s to 745); coloured, 70s to 735; old season’s coloured, 82s (82s). , En<dish. —Finest farmers, 90s to 100 s (90s to 100 s). Pout It African. —White and coloured, 46s to 47s (48s to 525). The retail price of New Zealand cheese in London was down to 6d a. lb. Deliveries of Now Zealand choose, from store last week were 1471 crates. ’1 ho quantity in store, including 15,250 crates ex Port Denison and Doric Star, was 110.404 crates, as against 71.355 crates a year ago. Deliveries of Canadian cheese were 2626 boxes, the quantity remaining in store being 75,137 boxes, as against 71,163 boxes a year ago. i . Gradings of cheese in New Zealand for the week ended May 13 wore 8015 crates of white and 4183 crates of coloured, a total of 12,193 crates.
