MOA HARRIETS.

SEALED HANDICAP RACE. I lie Moa Harrier Club held a sealed handicap race over 24 miles on Mr G. Parker s property at Aorangi on Saturday afternoon. The weather was Hull and overcast with a heavy northwest wind blowing and the paddocks were in good order, which made the times very past. E. Batten took the lead from It. Lamberton followed by It. Cleland, H. Moss, W. Hayden, J Gleeson and the Whittaker Bros., the other runners in close attendance. With one mile covered Lambertron led by about 100 yards from E. Batten, who was a similar distance in frontof It. Cleland. At. this stage of the race L. Moore, It. Evans, C. Pag6 and the Whittaker Bros. )>egan to show great determination. Lamberton went on

to win by about 230 yards from Batten with Cleland 150 yards back and Gleeson another 70 yards with the others coming in the following order, G. Whittaker, H. Moss, C. Page, S. Morris, J. Haycock, It. Evans, W. Hayden, 1). L. Moore. The actual run- resulted as follows: It. Lamberton, 12min. 50 2-ssec., 1; E. Batten, 13min. 54sec., 2; It. Cleland, 14min. 3Gsec. ; 3. The sealed handicap resulted:—G. Whittaker 1, J. Gleeson 2. After the run the officials, runners and supporters were entertained at afternoon tea by Mrs G. Parkes, who was later enrolled as an honorary member. Mr Coleman presented the trophies to the successful runners. The hostess was heartily thanked by all present.
