HOUSING DEPARTMENT.
THE AUCKLAND INQUIRY. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, May 19. Commenting this afternoon on the inquiry under the Public Service Act held at liis request by the Public Service Commissioner into recent happenings within the Auckland branch of the Department of Housing, Hon. 11. T. Armstrong said that the commissioner had advised him that the officers concerned had retracted tho charges levelled by them, against the department, its administration, and its senior officers. They had also expressed to Mr Armstrong in writng sincere regret for their precipitate and irregular actions taken without lull knowledge or appreciation of the facts, or the normal and proper procedure and channels through which representations should bo made. An expression of regret bad also been tendered to tho commissioner.
“The officers concerned have now submitted to me certain suggestions tho adoption of which they consider would ensure greater co-operation within the department. I have arranged for these suggestions to bo thoroughly investigated,” the Minister added.
