POWER SUPPLY.
MANAWATU OROUA AREA. The monthly meeting of tho Mana-watu-Oroua Power Board was held yesterday afternoon, Air J. Boyce presiding. Others present were Alessrs J. A. Nash, W. McKay, J. H. Alason, P. G. Guy, W. P. Bickers, C. G. C. Dernier and L. Hogg. Apologies for absence were received from Alessrs AI. A. Eliott and N. Campbell. Advice was received from the State Advances Corporation agreeing to lend tho board £IO,OOO at 3£ per cent, for a term of ten years, repayable on an amortisation tabic of 20 years, interest to commence on April 21. An application by the Rangiwahia School for the loan of lights for the jubilee celebrations in Alav was granted. FURTHER RETICULATION. The report by the chief engineer (Air W. A. Maters), which was adopted, stated:—The work ot building the i’akmikura line is progressing. The running ol tho wires is now being carried out. The gang that is in camp oil this job have also carried out other work at Otara and Sundon Block. The Feiiciing- gang, in addition to other work, connected six new State houses in I'ciitling, each house being all-elec-tric. On tne Fei Id in g-Halcom be Road, the main U,OUO-volt line was deviated owing to the alterations being carried out by the Alain Highways Board. The feilding gang erected no fewer than 19 new service lines. Another gang, at Palmerston North, shifted a pole at Alangawhata owing to road alterations. A 20-chain pump service was erected at Waitohi ancl about 90 chains of 3300 volt wire was replaced on the Bunnytliorpe Kairanga Road. Repairs were carried out on AlcDonnell’s Line owing to a car hitting a pole, while temporary repairs were similarly made to a pole on Napier Road for the same reason. Five spans of 400-volt wires were erected at Siberia. At Tvcllow s Line 30 chains of wire was erected and a transformer changed to cope with increased load. The work is in hand ot deviating the lines at Aslihurst and Longhurn owing to bridges being built over the railway lines. Tho latter project is a problem, and the consumers must be inconvenienced by cutting off the power while it is being done. The construction of the Olmkea 11,000-volt line has been completed to tlie top of Alt. Stewart, and the load to Te Arakura and Kai Iwi has been transferred to the new cables and two new 11,000volt transformers erected. All the original 3300-volt system in this area has been dismantled. Tho gang are now working on the Alt. Stew’art to Sanson section and all the polos have boon dismantled. Tho gang are now working on the Alt. Stewart to Sanson section and all the poles liavo been carted for this section. The following were given a supply during the month: Lighting and heating, 13; ranges. 14; waterheaters, 21; motors for milking, 1; other motors, 23; industrial motors, 3; additions, 31; total, 106.
