TE ARAKURA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) TK ARAKURA, April 17. The April meeting of the To Arakura Women's Institute was licit! in the local hall. Mrs Bradley presided and read the motto, “The men and women that are lifting the world upward and onward are those who encourage moro than criticise.” Apologies for absence were received from .Aj cod limes llaythornc, Stewurt, Whisker, J. il. Bennett, Wilkins, and Sanne. it was decided to hold the institute birthday in June; particulars will be advertised. The winners of the monthly competitions were: Most artistically ai ranged vase of flowers, senior, Mrs Russell; junior, Miss O. Thomas (only entry). Three petunia blooms, Airs Russell. An interesting demonstration was given by Airs J. Gore, of Alilson, on felt work. Afternoon tea was served by Alesdames Russell, Ansin, and F. Choetham. A small presentation was to have been made to Airs Wilkins, who is going on a trip to America and England, of a dainlv lavender lady and leather pocket book. Mrs Bradley would later present it to Airs Wilkins. A vole of thanks was accorded All's (lore. Thank'S were extended to the hostesses, stall stewards, judges, and pianist. The Aliy meeting will be in Reform of an open evening. The competitions will he for beet bloom in the garden and sa-voury mould. At the first meeting of the 1939 committee members were appointed to various positions, Airs Bradley presided, an apology being received from All's J. ir. Bennett. Officers are: Vico-preeidehts, Ah-s Griffith and Airs Russell ; lion, secrelarv, Ali.ss Hansen; lion, treasurer. Airs Thomae; stall stewards, Airs Wevell and Alisa Thomas; yearly competition stewards and flowers competition. Airs Baker; monthly competition. Airs Burnham; social stewards, Mrs Johnston and Airs Baker; group committee representatives. Alt's Griffith and Mrs Thomas; monthly prize stewards, Mrs Johnston; Home and Country steward, Airs Burnham.
