ASHHURST.
(From Our Own Corerspondenf.) ASHIIURST, April 15. The April meeting of the Women's Institute was prosified over by the president (Mrs Woodroofe), who extended a welcome to members, visitors, and friends, Nowly-olccted officers are: Vice-presidents, Mesdamos Flowers and Tunnicliffe; joint treasurers, Mesdamos Flowers and Evans; secretary, Mrs B. Fairless; competition steward, Mrs Middleton; flower steward, Miss Dobson. A solo was rendered by Mrs Hewitt, and a recitation by Miss K. Timnicliffe. Mcsdnnies Middleton and Ttomewan were appointedd elegates to attend council meetings in Palmerston North. Competition for the apron made from a sugar bag: Mrs Bleakley 1, Mrs Currie 2, Mrs Evans 3. The single ladies’ class for oven cloth, was won by Miss Dobson. The games competitions were won by Mrs Currie and Miss Youle. Thought for the month. “A Inzy person aims at nothing, and generally gets it.” Afternoon tea was served by Mesdamos Fairless (2), and Evans, and Miss Finlay.
An induction service was held in the Methodist Church for Rev. R. Richards, who has arrived to take charge of the Ashhurst-Bunnythorpe circuit, ltev. C. If. Olds, of Hawke's Bay, tho chairman of the district, was in charge, assisted hv Revs. A. Illakcmore and G. Eaton, both of Palmerston North. Mr G. Passey, of Pohangina, and Mr W. Brewer, of the local chinch, extended a welcome to Mr and Mrs Richards. Mr ami Mrs W. Brewer and Miss K. Brewer have returned from a motor tour of Rotorua and Tanranga. Mr and Mrs R. Harper have returned from a motor tour in the north. Mr and Mr 3 Balder, of Wellington, have been visiting Mr and Mrs Middleton, of Pohangina Road.
