PAYMENTS OVER £51,000
“The load for the last quarter,, ending March 31, 1939, at Bunnythorpe was 0300 k.v.a. compared with 5550 lor the same quarter last year. Palmerston North s load was 2934 k.v.a. compared with 2:502 for the same quarter last year,” stated the chief engineer (Mr W. A. Waters), in his report to the meeting of the Manawatu-Oroua Power Board this afternoon.
“The average load supplied to Palmerston North for the year,” he added, “was 3363.75 k.v.a. per quarter, compared with 3024 k.v.a. for the previous year. Our own average load was 6540 k.v.a. for the year compared with 5865 for the previous year. Our total payments for power for the past financial year to the Public Works Department were £51,180, nearly £IOOO per week.” The managing-secretary (Mr K. W. Egiinton) reported that sales of current for eleven months of the financial year totalled £89,538 Is 2d,, compared with £84,973 18s Id for the corresponding period of 1937-38, an increase of £4064 3s Id. He estimated that the year’s total revenue from this source would be approximately £107,000 compared with £IOI,OOO last year. Sales and installations for March had amounted to £1145 16s, and collections for the month to £B9B 12s sd, leaving £5896 4s 4d outstanding. The power fund account had a debit of £196 7s 2d.
