NO INCREASE IN HOURS. , Per Press Association. AVELLINGTON, March 28. “The Government has no intention of taking any action to increase the hours of labour,” said the Prime Minister (Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage), referring this evening to the suggestion of the” Leader of the Opposition, that the hours of work in the building industry lie extended to 44 a week to relieve the housing situation. The Prime Minister said the arrears in buildings of all descriptions were largely due to the policy pursued in the past by the Government to which Mr Hamilton and his associates belonged. Mr Savage said that Mr Hamilton seemed more anxious to extend the hours of labour than anything, else. There would he more houses built in New Zealand in +he next 12 months than ever before in a similar period hv the Government with wh'ch Mr Hamilton was associated in the past.
