Sheep in Canterbury have never been freer from disease during the past three years than they are at. present. This position was revealed by Mr W. D. Blair (district superintendent of the live stock division of the Department of Agriculture). lie said that dry conditions were recognised as the most suitable for sheep. because they provided hard feed that reduced disease to a minimum. Long luscious grass, ho said, favoured the development of parasitic growths in stock, while wet conditions were also the main contributory factor in eases of foot rot. I'or those reasons the recent drought conditions had been a boon. Shortage of feed, however, was becoming a serious problem when pastures received a most beuelicial rainfall.
