MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

AIISCELLANEOUS CASES. Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M., presided over the sitting of the Magistrate’s Court at Palmerston North yesterday. K. D. Polonski was fined £4, with 10s costs, on a charge of driving a car on the main highway on January 23 in a manner which might have been dangerous to the public. Tt was stated that defendant had pulled out of a long line of race traffic on a hill and was right outside the white line when a traffic inspector mot him and had to pull right over to the left-hand side of the road. Defendant tried unsuccessfully to force his way back into the line of race traffic. Charged with being found on licensed premises after hours, John Telford was fined £l, with 10s costs.

Stated to be £5 15s in arrears on a maintenance order, Eric Charles Knight was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment with hard labour, the issue of the warrant to be suspended as long as he pays 10s weekly off the arrears, in addition to the current order.

Three months’ imprisonment was the sentence imposed on George William Cameron charged with being in arrears on a maintenance order for his wife and children, the warrant to be suspended as long as the order is complied with. An order was made remitting up

to February 27 arrears stated to be hundreds of pounds owing by Leonard Mangham, a commercial airways ground engineer, for the maintenance of his wife and children, and a charge of disobedience of the maintenance order was withdrawn.
