A LIFE FOR PROGRESS.—Having watched the growth of Hamilton for over seventy years, this old pine tree on Garden Place Hill has now to make way for a civic square. It was planted by Dr. John Carey, surgeon of the 4th Waikato Regiment and Hamilton's first medical Practitioner.
