SPEAKER FOUND DEAD.

P RO.M INENT QU EENSLANDER. Received March 25, 8.5 a.m. BRISBANE, March 24. Mr George Pollock, aged 49, the Speaker of the Loglisative Assembly, ivas found shot dead in his room in his suite in Parliament House to-day. A shot gun was near his body. The police are satisfied that lie was not the victim of foul play. Air Pollock had been the Speaker for seven years and had been a member of Parliament since 1915. Near Mr Pollock’s body a note was found in the room which road : “Complete nervous and mental breakdown. Can’t carry on. Too much pain.”
