The death has occurred of Mr Yotaro Sugimara, who was Japanese Ambassador to Paris, but had returned to Tokio on a health trip, states a cablegram from Tokio.
The death has occurred of Captain James Barton Rainey, one of the bestknown men in New Zealand shipping circles. Captain Rainey came of seafaring stock, and liis father was a sea captain. Rev. G. B. Stephenson, vicar of Danncvirke. has been appointed a canon of Napier Cathedra] in succession to the late Canon E. ‘ D. Rice. Air Stephenson, who has held several appointments in New Zealand, was, a considerable time ago, curate at All Saints’ Church, Palmerston North, and subsequently was in Wellington. Air N. Fulton, dairy produce grader at Wanganui, is to retire shortly from the Public Service on superannuation. He was appointed a dairy produce grader and dairy instructor in 1905 with headquarters in AVellington. Since then he lias been stationed in the Auckland and Taranaki provinces, and was transferred to AVanganui in 1923. The death occurred on Wednesday night, in the Alatamata Hospital, of Air Nathaniel Craig, of Tirau. Air Craig was well-known in the Rangitikei district as Crown Lands ranger, and lived in Alarton for many years, and also in the Hutt Valley, Wellington, where he had a nursery garden. His’ wife died five years ago, and he is survived bv two sons and one daughter.
