A. AND. P. ASSOCIATION

A BUSY YEAR. The president of the Manawatu and West Const A. and 1\ Association (Mr A. Burgess), in his annual report, states that the year has been full of activity and shows a profit of £343. Tho National Dairy Show was one of the most successful Winter Shows ever held, the principal feature being the wide sphere of interest covered by the various sections and the provision of a well-balanced programme of attractions. An outstanding feature on the first day was the organised visit of school children from some forty schools in tho Wellington and Wanganui Education Boards’ districts. Entries in tho. competitive sections wero excellent. “Excellent entries were received for tho Spring Show. A number of the Royal Show exhibits wero shown here on their way homo arid this fact helped to produce the very high general standard throughout the live-stock entries. There was a record display of agricultural implements and farm equipment which occupied all the available area behind tho members’ grandstand.” . Thanks are tendered to retiring members of committee and all donors, judges, exhibitors, assisting stewards, Railway Department, Press and all supporters. OFFICE STAFF. “Tho agreement with Mr W. T. Penny will expire on May 31 next and the books will in future bo kept by the secretary,” states the treasurer (Mr M. A. Eliott), .in his report. “This will mean increased work for Mr Kissling who has been granted an increase in salary ol £75 per annum making a total of £SOO. On the other hand, tho association will save the £IOO fee for keeping books and £IOO pension at present being paid to Mr Penny, thus making a net saving of £125 per annum and completing the agreement made with Mr Penny on his retirement under which he received a pension of £SOO and a further total sum of £SOO as lrook keeping fees. I desire to express my complete satisfaction with the manner in which Mr Penny has fulfilled his part of the agreement. “Improvements of oval and area at hack of stand. —1 his work is making good progress and as all the labour is under the Government No. 13 scheme, the cost to the association, excepting for some plant and materials, will be nil. The oval committee lias earned the thanks of the association in connection with this improvement. I desire to thank Mr Kissling and the staff for the assistance they have always given me, also the president and members of the finance committee for their support.”
