JAPANESE BOMBING RAID

The town of Pingkiang was bombed on March 15 by IS Japanese ’planes, when eight persons in the compound of the Methodist Misison were killed, including a British missionary, Mr Albert Leigh. The British Ambassador in Tokio (Sir Robert Craigie) has been instructed to protest. TOWN QUICKLY TAKEN. Received March 24, 10.8 a.m. TOKIO, March 23. Through the hitherto unsurpassed speed of their mechanised divisions, the Japanese have occupied Eeugsin, the key town of Nanchang. A spokesman said that the forces in South China were preparing a spectacular campaign. Fighting was continuing in Kiangsi. where more towns have been occupied. INCREASING ACTIVITY. Received March 24, 12 noon. CHUNGKING, March 23. The Foreign Ministry states that increasing activity in the war zones is revealed by the fact that 270 engagements were fought in the first hall of March, resulting Tn the deaths of 11,300 Japanese, and 1261 were taken prisoner.
