ACTIVITIES DURING YEAR. The Feilding Fire Brigade’s report on the year’s activities to he presented by the secretary (.Mr TI. It. Fitzgerald) at tlic brigade’s reunion states:—“ln submitting this resume of the brigade’s activities at this their 51st annual meeting, we again beg to refer to the satisfactory results achieved and to the harmony that exists among the members, which facts reflected great credit on the intellect and tact of Superintendent Sporle and his officers. The total estimated value of property involved at fires amounted to £IO,BOO, which was covered by insurance amounting to £6070. The estimated loss by fire and water amounted to £726, the loss ol property owners over and above same being nil. It is pleasing to report that the finances are in a fairly healthy condition, owing to the fact that, independent of the loyal support from honorary members and the generous social grant- from the Feilding Fire Board, substantial donations have been received in appreciation of the brigade’s services from the following and for which the brigade are sincerely thankful :—Messrs A, H. Maguire, Aitken and Evans, directors of the Sasli and Door Co., T. Collins, Hod dor and Tolley; trustees Estate E. Short, the late Mr E. Goodbehere and the secretary of the Feilding Club. “Competitions. —Two have been held. The modern event for the Feilding Eire Brigade’s Challenge Cup resulted in a win for Fireman S. It is with deep 'regret that we have to report the passing of Foreman Dan Kitchen, who held the Dominion record for active services .as a brigadosman, having had upwards of 57 years active service to his credit; also one of the last of the original founders of the brigade, the late Mr Edmund Goodbeliero, a staunch supporter from the brigade’s inception. “The United Fire Brigades’ Association annual conference for 1938 was held at New Plvmouth, the Feilding Brigade being ably represented by Superintendent Sporle. On behalf of the brigade we beg to tender thanks to Mrs Sporle and her kidv helpers for their courteous assistance at- social functions, to the Feilding Fire Board, the honorary members and to the I ress and to the citizens.”
