CARS IN COLLISION.

A head-on collision between two ears occurred on a straight stretch of main highway between Woodville and Napier near Maharahara railway station, about 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon. One of the vehicles which was proceeding from Wellington to Napier was driven by Mr Roland Gapes, company director, of Wellington, and he was accompanied by Miss Ardcll. The other car was driven by Mr It. C. Cunningham, of Mangarawa, near Woodville. and Mrs Cunningham was also in the car. Mrs Cunningham received slight abrasions about the head, but Jhe other occupants of the cars escaped uninjured, though both vehicles were considerably damaged. Just south of the place of impact was a strip of road in the process of tarsealing on one side. Ahead of the machines that were carving out the tar-sealing work was a sweeper, the revolving brush on which was evidently creating a cloud of dust.
