RUGBY FOOTBALL.
FEILDING OLD BOYS CLUB. The annual meeting of the I< eilding Old Bovs Football Club was held last evening' Mr J. 0. Elliot presiding over a good attendance. The report (alrcadv published) and the balance-sheet, subject to audit and showing a credit balance of £26 bs, were adopted. In moving the adoption of these statements, the chairman said the club had reason to view the season with satisfaction. The senior team had not come up to expectations as lar as results were concerned, but on the whole the games had been free and open and good tactics had been employed. The balance-sheet was also satisfactory. The annual ball had netted a credit ot £1 Is Sd. Dir J. Finlay (secretary) reported that he had not heard much about the projected scrummage machine and he had written to the executive for information about it. The reports were adopted without further discussion. The following new members were accepted :—Messrs A. Dcwe, Orozior, 11. Beazer, L. Rutherford, G. Jackson, W. Dashwood, H. Bond, J. Cook, N. Dunston and J. Whyte. The election of officers resulted:—
Patron, Mr L. J. Wild: president, Mr J. G. Elliot (unanimously re-elected) ; vice-presidents, the 32 who accepted office last year, with the addition of Mr J. Wcightman, Feilding, were elected; club captain, Mr G. Pearce; secretary, Dir H. Brock; treasurer, Dir W. McLeod: committee, Messrs J. Finlay, L. Jenkins, P. Eade, J. Dcwe, 'N. Bramwell, H. Waugh and S. Crump; delegates to Dlanawatu Rugby Union. Messrs J. Clovely, J. Dcwe, J. G. Elliot, H. Waugh and C. Pcarse; club coaches, senior, Dir J. Dcwe; junior, Mr N. Braimvell. Subscriptions were fixed at 7s 6u senior and os junior (these amounts covering insurances). The practice nights were arranged the same as last year’s. Jt was decided to nominate senior and junior teams for the competitions and later, if players are available, a third grade team. In order to perpetuate the name
and memory of the late Dir _ Hone Ixnyvctt, a prominent player in the club, who passed away a few years ago, it was decided that a memorial shield be procured, to be known as the Hone Kn.yvett Dlemorial Shield and that the name of the member ol Lhe club who does most lor the club each season he placed thereon and the pb.ycr presented with a miniature, the player to be nominated by a lull ballot oi players at the end of the season.
.It was decided to purchase a cup for the juniors, to he allotted to the player showing must improvement during the season.
