Mansell. A. W. Ainon. W. Kearney, C. C. Price and F. A. Holland. The foreman reported on work done during the month. It was reported that water in a trough in Criterion Street for stock had been fouled through persons bathing dogs in it, while others had dipped dirty buckets into the water while washing lorries which had been used for carrying stock. The foreman was instructed to take steps to stop these nuisances. A discussion ensued regarding the proposed Centennial memorial, and it was decided that the Rest, and Plunket Rooms should be the most fitting memorial, and it was resolved to apply | for a subsidy for these. An experiment with a certain weed killer was stated to be quite satisfactory, and it was resolved jto purchase a quantity and to apply it to [ weeds and grass on main roads. Collcci lions for the month totalled £146 5s 3d. I Accounts wore passed for payment. The ’chairman reported that he had attended a conference to obtain details of the proposed Rangitikci water scheme. Ho said that the board would not bo rated under the scheme, but would bo rharged as a purchaser. Cr. Holland stated that the Health Department had reported unfavourably on several wells in Bulls, and it was likely that further adverse reports would he received. He estimated that the hoard would have to pay 15s a day for 20.000 gallons of water. He commended the scheme, and said that Bulls, being on Ja low level, would be assured of a good ! pressure. He did not consider that a drainage system would be forced on Bulls, this being too costly, and septic tanks were being installed and were proving ■satisfactory. A lengthy, and at times heated. discussion followed regarding the finances of the library, Cr. Holland asking that the country libraries’ scheme he given i a fair trial, at. the end of which the hoard might revert to the former arrangement of payment hv subscribers if it thought the old system bettor. Crs. Lundy, Mansoli and Price were appointed a works committee for tho ensuing month.
