CANCELLATION OF LICENSE.

AIAGISTRATE’S COMMENT

“That does not matter. A’ou cannot drive a car in Palmerston North like that,” commented Mr H. PLawrv, S.M., in the ATagistrate's Court at Palmerston _ North to-day, after Harold Basil Webster, skating rink proprietor, on being convicted of a motoring offence and having his driving license cancelled, protested that he had to drive for a living. Defendant was charged with failure to give way to traffic approaching from the right, and with driving without due care and attention at the intersection of Fitzherbert Avenue and Ferguson Street, as a result of which two cars had collided and run into a fence. A witness stated that defendant came down Fitzlierbert Avenue at 40 to 50 miles an hour. Defendant was lined £5, with £1 3s costs and £2 5s 6d for witnesses’ expenses. He started to walk out of Court but, was recalled to be informed by the Magistrate that lie had better hear what he had to pay, also that Ills drivin" license would l>e cancelled and lie would be prohibited from obtaining another for three months. The penalty was on one charge only, the other not being pressed.
