An anti-cyclone of slight intensity is moving across tlie North Tasman Sea on to northern New Zealand, but a fresh depression is forming over the south Tasman. Forecast. —Moderate to strong west to north-west winds, reaching gale force at times. Weather: Fair to fine at first, but some scattered and light rains probable later in and west of the ranges. Temperatures, cool to moderate. Seas, rough. RIVER GAUGE. 1 p.m. —lft. 6in.
