BUSH PROTECTION.

NEED FOR EDUCATION. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Feb. 15 There was no man or woman in the country who could sit quietly by and permit the ravages to the bush of the Dominion to continue, said the Minister of Internal Affairs (Hon. W. Parry) at the opening of the Native Plant Exhibition in the Dominion Museum to-day. Very serious inroads were being made on the flora, the Minister continued. lie had said that so long as lie was in his present position, war would be continued on every animal that was denuding the flora of New Zealand, and that policy was being pushed on in a vigorous fashion by the Internal Affairs Department. Last year 40,000 animals had been killed by the hardy men who were members of one of the finest armies in New Zealand—the deer destroyers. They had done splendid work during the last three or four years. Mr Parry felt that every provision be made for the children to see the wonderful display at the exhibition. A real bush sense should be created in the boys and girls of the Dominion. All the enthusiasm possible should be infused into the work of protecting the Horn and fauna, particularly among the young people.
