The first season’s operations for breeding horses under the remounts scheme subsidised by the Government are likely to exceed the sanguine anticipations previously held by the authorities. Quoting to a race club deputation information he had received of tho results so far the 31 blister of Internal Affairs (Hon. W. E. Parry) said that when all tho returns were in it would bo found tlm.t between 700 and 800 mares had been served by the stallions offering under the scheme. Some excellent progress reports by MajorGeneral Young, who had undertaken tho inspection work on behalf of tho New Zealand Racing Conference, had been sent to the Minister of Agriculture (Hon. W. Lee Martin). “The work is efficiently organised and thoroughly done,” Mr Parry added, “and from it will come even greater results than were anticipated.”
