HOSPITAL AUXILIARY.
NEW APPOINTMENTS. Mrs M. Aitcliison presided over the first montidy meeting of the year of the Palmerston North Hospital Women’s Auxiliary yesterday afternoon. Also present were Mesdames F. J. Nathan, W. Mouldey, T. It. Moore, J. Stone. J. Saunders. A. E. Mansford, Fry. F. Bennett, Misses E. Clark and V. Kelly and Mrs S. J. Parkes (secretary'). An apology for absence was received from Miss L. M. Banks. A number of letters of thanks for help from the auxiliary were received, and outward correspondence was approved. A letter from the Mayor asking for co-operation in connection with the Physical Fitness Week was read. After a. short discussion it was decided that there was no wo.y in which the auxiliary could render active assistance, and the letter was received. The financial statement showed a balance of £222 19s 7d. Mrs Nathan was appointed to the library committee and the seo.ret.'uy and Miss Clark were appointed to the buying committee. Mrs Mansford (convener of the buying committee) paid a tribute to the late Miss M. Mel/agan, who, she said, had been a kind and thoughtful buyer and had often herself contributed to the' cost of goods which the other buyers had thought too expensive. The president welcomed Mrs Fry as n. new member of the auxiliary. Mrs Fry had been appointed to the sewing committee. Miss V. Kelly (a vice-president) was also welcomed by Mrs A itch i son. who said that the members were all deeply grateful to her for agreeing to do the work of the secretary while Mrs Parkes would bo absent in England.
