LEAGUE OF MOTHERS.
Yesterday afternoon members of tho singing circle of tho Palmerston North branoh of the League of Mothers enjoyed a delightful outing at the Esplanade. Luncheon and tea were partaken of and games and competitions passed tho time merrily. This was tho first picnic held by the singing circle and there was such an excellent response that there is a possibility of the event becoming an annual one. Those responsible for the organisation were Mesdames D. Williams, H. G. Drake, W. Moxon and C. A. Anderson. Competition winners were: Blindfold stepping, Mrs H. Whittaker; egg and spoon, Mrs 0. Christiansen; back chain-stepping, Mrs J. W T augh; bowling, Mrs W. Petrie; threading reels, Mesdames W. Moxon and H. Drake; water and spoon, Mrs K. Clarke; relay walking, Mesdames W. Whitehead and C. A. Anderson; treasure hunt, Mrs K. Koberstein. Mrs A. McPherson (president of the branch) was present for afternoon tea.
