Mrs S. J. Piarkes, of “Parklands,” Terrace End, leaves to-morrow on a holiday trip to England.
Miss B. Taylor, of Hastings, who has been the guest of Miss P. Eawcett, ‘•‘Ourinibah,” Eitzherbert Avenue, left tii-day for her home in .Hastings. Mrs D. Nicholson, of Waikato, is visiting her cousin, Mrs G. Laing, of Alfred Street, Palmerston North. Dr. Rosalind Latter, of Paddington Hospital, London, has been staying with Mr and Mrs J. W. B. Boddy, of Lockwood, Kairanga.
Well known for her work for the welfare of women and children, Mrs Sarah Ellen Oliver Snow died at her ■home in Wellington, on Monday. She had been a member of the Wellington Hospital Board at intervals for tho last do years and continuously. for the last 13 years. A meeting of the Dominion officers of the Women’s Christian Temperance, Union was held recently in Christchurch. The resignation of Mrs T. E. Taylor, J.P., as superintendent of tho peace department, was accepted with regret. A letter of sympathy in her illness was sent to Mrs Taylor and hopes for her speedy recovery were expressed. Pleasure was expressed that Mrs J. C. Wickham, of Wanganui, had consented to accept nomination as Dominion peace superintendent, and she was unanimously appointed to the position.
